As an Associate Teacher, the individual oversees the instruction and supervision of groups of children under the guidance of the Site Supervisor.Responsibilities include preparing and implementing lesson plans aligned with the curriculum, assessing and documenting children's development, and maintaining a safe learning environment both indoors and outdoors. The teacher fosters children's social, intellectual, physical, and emotional growth through engaging activities across various subject areas, while also supervising assistants and volunteers. They conduct regular assessments, maintain attendance records, and hold parent conferences to discuss children’s progress.Additionally, the teacher facilitates a positive routine, promotes good health habits, and encourages parental involvement in the educational process. They are also responsible for ensuring safety, maintaining organized environments,supervising classroom meals, participating in professional development, and assisting in field trips while demonstrating professionalism through their attire and interactions. Overall, the role requires a proactive approach to child development, safety, and community engagement.
REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or GED.
Must possess a valid Associate Teacher permit from the State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
If working in an infant and toddler classroom, must have a minimum of 3 Infant and Toddler units.
Minimum of 1 year classroom experience working with preschool children.
Must possess Pediatric CPR and Pediatric First Aid Certificate (every year thereafter).
Bilingual,English and Spanish required.
Skill in oral and written communication. Must be able to write clear and concise reports. Must be able to read, write and communicate.
Must meet State health requirements including passing a physical examination and a Tuberculosis (TB) as a condition of employment.
Must provide vaccination records for influenza, pertussis, and measles at the time of employment, annual requirement thereafter.
Must have a valid California driver’s license, have use of a motor vehicle and provide evidence of automobile liability insurance.
Sensitive to the needs of the program and the children.
Sensitivity and the ability to work well with diverse ethnic, religious and cultural groups. Maintain confidentiality.
Regular attendance, Monday through Friday, according to schedule provided by the site supervisor.
