The Teacher at ŷַ Child Care and Development Centers is responsible for providing direct care, guidance, and instruction to children, fostering their social, physical, and intellectual development in a supportive learning environment. Under the direction of the Site Supervisor, the Teacher supervises groups of children, implements lesson plans that integrate educational elements across various subjects, and ensures safety during activities. Key responsibilities include conducting health checks, maintaining attendance records, documenting children's progress, and engaging with parents to support their child's growth. The Teacher organizes daily routines, selects stimulating materials, and supervises and trains assistants and volunteers. Additionally, the Teacher acts as a mandated reporter for child abuse, promotes nutritional education during meals, and participates in staff and parent meetings to enhance the overall educational experience.
REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Teacher Permit from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Minimum of one (1) year of classroom experience in a preschool/childcare setting.
Twelve(12) semester units in Early Childhood Education/Child Development.
For infant and toddler classrooms, at least 3 Infant and Toddler units are required.
Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification.
Valid California driver’s license, access to a motor vehicle, and proof of auto liability insurance as required by law.
Regular attendance,Monday through Friday, as per the schedule provided by the site supervisor.
Knowledge of Principles and Practices of Teaching Young Children, along with Child and Family Community.
Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to understand and connect with diverse groups, including low-income families.
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and providing dedicated services to children and the community.
Ability to assess and respond promptly to varied situations.
Computer literate (iPad, Tablet, desktop).
Complete AB 1207 California Child Care Providers: Mandated Reporter Training within 90days of hire, renewed every two years.
Positive attitude with a desire to support the welfare of children and their families,showing sensitivity to diverse ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds.
Supply vaccination records for influenza, pertussis, and measles upon employment.Provide a flu vaccine annually or submit a waiver.
